Vergilius Powergaming Evaluation:
25 points for low end BB guns with decent range-3 secondaries. A 5 dice AA attack makes this unit vulnerable from the air. 6 armor is fairly easy to hit with bombs and many guns, but 16 VA should keep it in the game most of the time. The big advantage here is that you have to pay 10-15 more points to get the equivalent value out of a battleship, but at the cost of vulnerability, the inability to move. Still, the HSB should be able to punish ships that approach objectives and provides a cheap gun addition to your fleet. In 100 point contests, you don’t pay much for a unit that can support your other units, especially against BB builds, either by distracting the enemy BB or contributing cheap damage to that BB relative to the cost paid for the Shore Battery. Above 200 points, the HSB can again act to support a diverse fleet in much the same way that a Battlecruiser can add useful punch for its points. Powergaming Grade: A+
