In many ways, Illustrious is the opposite of the other large British carrier, Ark Royal. Her capacity is lower, but she compensates with far more frills adding Sneak Attack and Torpedo Defense to Ark's SA's. While opposites, I find the two ships to be quite complementary. Illustrious boosts torpedo bombers with Expert Torpedoes and with the potential for a powerful boost from Sneak Attack, but she can't carry enough aircraft to push an attack home. If you bring Illustrious, be sure to leave the points to bring a fully loaded Ark as well, or at least utilize the airbase to flesh out your strike forces.
