Vergilius Powergaming Evaluation:
Finland receives a reprint of Germany's stout Ju88. This is a gamer piece, though scenario players might like it as well. You really need a theater restriction so you can build European Axis units around it, as the Finns cannot field much of a fleet presently. The Finnish version is better at dive bombing, and as I think through the Dive Bomb SA, you'd most likely want to use this SA when going after a destroyer. Your chances of suffering a splash from those destroyer guns is more trivial, while your chances of creating a vital is more worthwhile. You hardly gain anything significant at all when you go against a cruiser, and the higher AA might end your day. Counter Raid has some fun tactical uses. You can clear out enemy fighters for other bombers on a subsequent turn, or prevent more expensive and threatening bombers from returning for an extra turn. All in all, I applaud the inventive design choices and think this unit adds much to the game. B
