Vergilius Powergaming Evaluation:
Perhaps the most interesting new Soviet unit is the battlecruiser Kronshtadt. At the upper end of the 30 point spectrum, it has similar stats to the Scharnhorst. The unique addition is the presence of a new SA, Harrassing fire-5. The main role of a battlecruiser in WAS is to pick off enemy cruisers. Harrassing fire-5 allows for range-5 shots, but with only 6s counting as hits. You’ll roll 11 dice, and thus have a good chance of picking up 2 6s, enough to hit the typical cruiser. In short, you’ll either force the opponent to maneuver more carefully, and perhaps disadvantageously for future turns, or you’ll get to make this shot against him and potentially put an early hull point into one of his cruisers. That could be big if you’re fighting German ER-cruisers. I like this SA and the design reflected behind it. Overall Grade: A
