The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk flew escort missions and ground support duty in nearly every theater of war. Not only was it used by the US, but the UK and the Red Air Force, in addition to other nations as well. A rugged, well armed aircraft, it served with distinction right up until 1944.

Interceptor and escort for just 5 points! Though it cannot benefit from carrier bonuses and can only fly every other turn, for 5 points you get a fighter with high enough vital armor to stay in the game for a long time. Why it is unavailable until 1942 in game is something of a mystery, when it was active from the beginning of hostilities in 1941…maybe it's a little mercy for the Japanese?

Excellent aircraft, and at 5 points it can fit in to many builds. If you don't plan on bringing a carrier, grab a couple of these. To answer the entry date issue raised by anonymous, this is the E model. The early-war fighters were Bs and Cs.
