Historical Background:

The Type 89 medium tank I-Go (also known as Chi-Ro) was a medium tank used by the Imperial Japanese Army from 1932 to 1942 in combat operations of the Second Sino-Japanese War, at Khalkhin Gol against the Soviet Union, and in the Second World War.

The Type 89A was the initial production model. It had a water-cooled Daimler-type 100 hp engine 6-cylinder gasoline engine and mounted a machine gun on the right side of the hull. This design could only attain 15.5 km/h, and was also limited by the severe winter climate in northern China. A total of 220 units were produced.

Along with the Type 97 Te-Ke tankette, this is the cheapest Japanese tank in the game at 7 points. For that price, you get decent AI of 7/7/6, 2/2 armor, speed 3 and trench crossing. It is actually not that bad by itself. The main weakness is that this unit cannot harm any vehicle except trucks/jeeps and if you are lucky other 2/2 armoured units at medium range. If you can, the Type 95 Ha-Go cost just one point more and has a better anti-vehicle attack (+3/+3/+2).
